If you want to learn how to quickly take a screenshot on a Chromebook, the easiest way is to press Ctrl and the Overview button at the same time. The overview button is above the “6” key.
It will immediately take a fullscreen screenshot and the snapshot will be saved under the “Downloads” folder of the Files app. Just open the Files app, and you’ll find screenshots in this folder.
Alternatively, when you take a screenshot, a pop-up appears in the bottom-right, from where you can click “Edit” and annotate the screenshot. You have standard photo editing tools like cropping, resizing, adding filters, and more
Since screenshots in Chrome OS are automatically copied to your clipboard, you can paste screenshots directly into your favorite photo editor for Chromebook, Gmail, or any other media field. For example, in the Gmail compose window, I can use the Chromebook keyboard shortcut “Ctrl + V” and a screenshot is added.
Also, if you enable the Clipboard History feature on Chromebook, you can find past screenshots, copied images, text, etc. using Chrome OS keyboard shortcuts. - Next, quickly open the Settings menu in the bottom-right corner, and you’ll find a “Screen Capture” option.
- Click on it, and a toolbar will open. Now, you can choose what kind of screenshot you want – full-screen, window, or partial. Make sure you select “Camera”, not the video indicator in the toolbar, for example, I’m capturing a partial screenshot here using the screen capture option. Now, click on “Capture” or press Enter. The screen snap will be saved in the download folder.
- If you want to change the default screenshot folder on your Chromebook, click on the “cogwheel” icon below and select “Select Folder”.
- Here, select the desired folder where you want to save the screen capture For example; I have created a “Screenshot” folder under “Downloads” for all my screen capes.
